“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
For thousands of years, people of faith have searched the bible for prophetic insight on the prevailing cutlure, wisdom for making personal decisions and as a means of finding a genuine connection with the divine. Communities have formed around the teachings of these sacred writings and movements have been launched that changed the trajectory of human history.
But the respect previously given to these scriptures has diminished in recent times. The bible is seen as perplexing, controversial and irrelevant both for shaping our morality and for guiding us in connecting to God.
At the same time the larger public has become more critical of the bible, those who are a part of communities that hold it as sacred find less and less space for it in their lives. While giving it a cursory form of honor, they struggle to read it, to understand it and to apply it to their daily lives.
This blog is dedicated to reversing that trend. We offer 3 main resources to help with this goal:
1. Written Blog Posts
2. Spoken Word Readings
3. The Bible Blog Podcast
It is our hope that with the help of these resources, individuals will feel better equipped to engage with the scriptures, learn to hear and know the voice of God and find a life-giving relationship with Jesus Christ.
