“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
For thousands of years, people of faith have treasured writings of the bible. They searched it for prophetic insight on the prevailing cutlure, wisdom for making personal decisions, and most of all in search of a genuine connection with the divine. Inspired by the promptings found in these sacred writings, communities and movements emerged that changed the trajectory of human history.
However, in recent times, the respect previously given to these scriptures has diminished . The bible is seen as perplexing, controversial and irrelevant. It value for guiding us to connect with God has been questioned, and it’s role in shaping our morality has been displaced.
At the same time the larger public has become more critical of the bible, those who are a part of communities that hold it as sacred find less and less space for it in their lives, often neglecting the voice of the one behind it. While giving it a cursory form of honor, they struggle to read it, to understand it and to apply it to their daily lives.
This blog is dedicated to reversing the trend of biblical illiteracy in our culture. We offer 3 main resources to help with this goal:
1. Written Blog Posts
2. Spoken Word Readings
3. The Bible Blog Podcast
With the help of these resources, we hope individuals will feel better equipped to engage with the scriptures, learn to hear and know the voice of God, and find a life-giving relationship with Jesus Christ.
